Event Promotion Resources

Using the web to promote your event starts at home - on your own website - with an "event page." Once you have crafted and posted your event page, all remaining efforts are used to drive traffic to it.

Internal Promotion Instructions

For an event to be posted to today.appstate.edu, the news and event hub for the university, it must first be posted on your website. A single event must have its own webpage and contain the following information.

  • Event name

  • Date

  • Time

  • Location

  • Event description: What will happen? What will the speaker speak about? What can I expect when I go?

  • Speaker bio or additional info: This can be short and link to the full bio elsewhere

  • Parking: Indicate special parking information, link to parking.appstate.edu

  • Tickets/Cost of Attendance: If there is no cost, indicate the event is “free of charge and open to the public.”

  • More information: Books to plug? Link to publisher.

  • Sponsors

  • About: This section likely is already written; check the Today website. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Contact Linda at coutantla@appstate.edu or call 2342.

  • Image: Images should click through to a high resolution version also posted to your website.
Include a photo caption. Photo by Photographer’s name - no punctuation. (If the name of the photographer is not known, write “Photo submitted”.)

Once you have posted your event webpage, email its URL to news@appstate.edu.
